Hero

Abraham Lincoln, my hero, is a famous United States President . I chose him because he spent his entire life working against slavery. After he becomes president, he led and won the American Civil War. Then, he passed the Emancipation Proclamation which freed slaves after the war. When I grow up, I am going to spend my life working  for something that I strongly believe.

Academic Earth

Academic Earth is a very great website for learning. It has an education level from below high school to college. Professors from famous Universities like Stanford and MIT will post videos and teach you about subjects from History, Art, Math, English, even to Economy and Chemistry. The best part of all, it is FREE! This website is dominated in Times 50 best website, TechCrush: Bill Gates Hearts Academic Earth. These day, I was poking around with this website. In our history class, we are just learning about Peloponnesian War. I typed in “Peloponnesian War” to see what is in this website. Many videos popped out. In one of the video, a professor named Kagan taught me that The Athens didn’t want to have the war. He gave me more information about the war that we didn’t learn in class, and I found it pretty interesting. Going back to home page, I discovered links of many different subjects. I pressed mathematics, my favorite subject, and many videos of professors from different universities popped again. I went through some of the videos and learned many things that is hard to explain. I also found out that there is a brief description at the bottom. When I don’t understand what the video is about, I could scroll down. I imagined that if one day I’m going to use this website to study, it would be very fun.

Traits of a Hero

To me, I think a hero should be someone who saved many people's lives. The hero should be brave, kind, strong, smart, loyal, and careful. He should have powerful abilities that can beautifully destroy his enemies. A hero should also be a humorous person who was always surrounded by people.

Editing

I had done editing in the 6th grade before. To evaluate someone's writing, you need to check on many things

  • How well it sticks to the topic
  • Whether the reasoning and statement is logic and clear
  • How well it is organized; whether it has an introduction, body, and conclusion
  • Whether it have enough facts and examples to support the claim
  • Whether the fonts, Margins, grammar, and spellings are correct

Legend

The trait of legends is that they all turn out to be successful. People become Legends by either teaching a lesson, saving people's lives, or inventing important stuff. Sometimes they become legends just because they are very special or different from others. Most people have a small chance of becoming a legend. Someone like Jeremy Lin could be a Legend. Also, Steve Jobs could be a legend. And Obama, Hitler, and even students in our school could become a legend.

Remember, don't...

My mom had given me many warning for many times. For example, "remember, don't play computer games," "remember, turn in your homework on time," or "remember, bring your cello tomorrow,"She reminded me many times, because I forgot about them most of the time, and when she finds out, my mom would always be very sad. Sometimes, my brother will warn me, too. He will say, "remember, you can only have one piece of chocolate each day" or "remember, you still need ten more minutes for cello practice."

Super Heroes

Heroes in a movie usually have super powers. They usually wear something exotic and and fight against bad people. Many of them wasn't even famous in the background of the movie. Unlike those action heroes, real-life heroes don't have special powers and don't wear colorful clothes, and they are famous for being a hero. For me, I think a hero would do something that make other people think he or she is correct. A hero would also make people beside him or her happy.
